2026.04.01

Professor Choi Ki-Hong’s research team at Korea University has been selected for Phase 2 of the NRF–Ministry of Science and ICT STEAM (Strategic Technology Pioneer for Future Convergence) project, titled “Development of Real-Time Personalized Craving Intervention Technology for Substance Addiction Patients.”

Led by Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital, the project involves Korea University, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, ETRI, Soongsil University, and Kwangwoon University. It aims to develop digital therapeutic technologies that use biometric and behavioral data to predict substance-use cravings in real time and provide personalized interventions.

Phase 1 achievements—including AI-based craving prediction models, mobile and VR intervention tools, and an integrated digital platform—were highly praised for their clinical applicability. With SCIE publications and patent applications, the team’s work shows strong potential to become a leading digital treatment platform in mental health and addiction care.

The team will continue with clinical validation and integrated platform development, advancing innovative digital healthcare solutions for addiction treatment.
