Psychology may not provide definitive answers to life, but it can serve as a compass that helps people navigate its many challenges.
Digital Psychotherapy and Psychological Assessment
A well-known example is the Harvard Grant Study. Beginning in 1937, researchers at Harvard University conducted a landmark longitudinal study that followed the lives of 268 individuals for more than 85 years. The findings showed that the wisdom of prospection—the ability to look ahead and anticipate life realistically—plays a crucial role in living a mature and happy life.
Psychology of Happiness and Psychology of Love
The skill of prospection helps individuals wisely distinguish between what they can and cannot do, as well as what they can and cannot reasonably expect from life. Participants in the Grant Study who made effective use of prospection generally enjoyed their work, showed no signs of mental illness, and, in most cases, maintained happy marriages.
Based on the findings of the Grant Study, the Positive Clinical Psychology Lab works to support a wide range of individuals—from psychiatric patients to outstanding leaders and highly gifted individuals—in leading mature, fulfilling, and happy lives.
