Exploring human performance by analyzing behaviors and decoding brain activities HP Lab
Professor Yangseok Cho
The HP Lab at Korea University studies human cognitive processing related to cognitive control, response selection, visual attention, and emotion.
Control Mechanisms
Because humans perceive information from the external environment and make behavioral decisions based on it, understanding control mechanisms is essential. The ability to flexibly adjust cognitive settings is one of the most important human capacities. Since emotional processes also influence attentional processes, the lab examines the interaction between attention and emotion.
Psychophysiological Measurement
To achieve its research goals, the lab primarily combines behavioral measures with psychophysiological recordings such as electrodermal activity (EDA), electrocardiography (ECG), and electroencephalography (EEG). Machine learning techniques, including multivariate pattern analysis (MVPA), are used to analyze EEG data and decode human brain activity. In addition, the lab conducts research on cognitive control and visual attentional selection using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).
